As Creative Director of Retail and a founding member of the brand, my role was to create a customer experience that would bring our brand value proposition and beliefs to life. Every aspect of the Nau brand is based in sustainability from strategy, process to materials and delivery of the brand promise. In collaboration with Skylab Architecture my role was to define the design brief and work with Skylab through the creative development of the prototype store design. For the roll out of the stores, I worked closely with Gensler Architects developing as many as ten locations. We achieved LEED certification at the silver level with the collective effort of planning and design.

Nau Digital Experience

Together with Skylab we created digital experiences throughout the store where consumers could learn more about product and learn more about our partnerships with non-profit organizations that benefit from every sale. We also developed a “self check out” where customers can choose to ship product directly for further savings.

Scan cards were created as a tool to learn about product. Consumers collect cards, scan at a digital interface and get a deep dive on product details. The scan cards are also used at self check out to expedite the product information.

Stio Catalog

In support of Stio’s brand goal and business goals, my team developed a visual system, then applied it to an e‑commerce website, consumer catalog. I also worked with the brand, providing in-store design consultation for the Stio’s flagship store in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Nau Identity

In collaboration with my internal creative partners and brand leadership, we created the brand name and logo, intended to introduce a new philosophy of sustainable product creation, and a unique business proposition that gives back to the earth and its people. Nau comes from the Maori phrase “Nau mai”, meaning welcome.

We developed a multi-platform in-store customer experience, using digital touch screens and sustainably printed graphics to tell the brand story and provide product information, as the consumer desired. Content hierarchy was carefully developed to create an engaging environment of discovery, rather than a barrage of information. Seasonal in-store graphics and window display were created internally, under my direction.

We developed a multi-platform in-store customer experience, using digital touch screens and sustainably printed graphics to tell the brand story and provide product information, as the consumer desired. Content hierarchy was carefully developed to create an engaging environment of discovery, rather than a barrage of information. Logo and identity evolution was part of my role as director of brand design. The script mark for Cole Haan was originally developed as a unique mark for the Cole Haan Collection product series. However, after much feedback this logo was elevated to the primary mark of the brand from product to store signage.
